Exam Proctoring

The Library offers exam proctoring to support lifelong learning. We proctor written and online exams by appointment during regular Library hours, Monday–Friday and limited Saturdays.

Who Can Use This Service

  • Anyone may request proctoring
  • Chatham Area Library District Residents: Free
  • Non‑residents: $20 per exam session
  • Printing and fax fees apply (B&W $0.15/page, Color $0.25/page; Fax $1–$2/page)

What Students Need to Do

  1. Read the Proctor Policy
  2. Complete the Exam Proctoring Application
  3. Return the form to the Adult Services Desk or mail it to: Chatham Area Public Library, Attn: Proctor Coordinator, 600 E Spruce St, Chatham IL 62629
  4. Contact your school or testing agency to send all exam materials directly to the Library
  5. Call 217‑483‑2713 before your test date to confirm the exam has arrived
  6. Arrive on time with required items (photo ID, pencils, calculator, payment, etc.)

A librarian will contact you to schedule your appointment once materials and instructions are received.

During the Exam

  • Exams must finish 15 minutes before closing
  • Only items listed in the exam instructions are allowed
  • Cell phones and talking with others are not permitted
  • Proctors enforce all time limits and exam rules
  • Online exams must be taken on a Library computer; personal devices cannot be used
  • The Library cannot install software or guarantee uninterrupted internet access

Important Notes

  • The Library cannot proctor exams brought in directly by students
  • We are not responsible for delayed, incomplete, or mailed‑back exams once they leave our possession
  • Exams interrupted by emergencies or technical issues will be rescheduled
  • A substitute proctor may be assigned if needed
  • Proctors will only sign statements that accurately reflect what they can verify
