StoryWalk Debuts at Chatham Veteran’s Memorial Square
CHATHAM – A community partnership supported the new StoryWalk that can be found at the Chatham Veterans Memorial Square off north Main in Chatham, and it’s sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike.
“We appreciate our many partners who came together to make this happen.,” said Amy Byers, director of the Chatham Area Public Library. “The StoryWalk will be a fun destination for families to combine literacy skills with healthy exercise as they walk to each of the 16 reading stations found within Veterans Memorial Square.”
The library approached the Chatham Auburn Memorial VFW Post 4763, the American Legion Post 759, the Village of Chatham, the Friends of the Chatham Area Library and the Volunteers at the Friend’s Café and Bookstore. All agreed to provide funding and/or installation assistance to bring the StoryWalk to life.
The first installment of the StoryWalk features “Penguin Problems” by Jory John and illustrated by Lane Smith. The StoryWalk is free to all and accessible during normal park hours. Book selections will rotate on a regular basis.
