The Friends of the Library President explaining what needs to be done for setting up the Annual Book Sale

Support Your Library: Volunteer with the Friends!

The Friends of the Chatham Area Public Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers. Our sole purpose is to support the Chatham Area Public Library’s collections, services, programs, spaces, and staff.

You do not need to be an official member of the Friends organization to volunteer with us—anyone is welcome to join the fun and give back to our community!

How You Can Get Involved

We have a variety of volunteer activities to match your interests and schedule:

  • Annual Book Sales: Help sort, organize, and sell donated books at our major sales.

  • March Murder Mystery Fundraiser: Show off your acting chops and help bring our annual interactive fundraiser to life.

  • The Friends Board: Share your leadership skills and help steer the future of our organization by serving on the board.

  • Special Events: Lend a hand at various Friends-sponsored library events throughout the year.

Friends’ Café & Bookstore Update

We are incredibly grateful for everyone who wants to volunteer at the Friends’ Café & Bookstore. Our volunteer roster for the shop is currently full.

However, we still encourage you to fill out our online application! We keep all applications on file for one year. If a shift opens up, we will contact you to see if you are still interested. In the meantime, we hope you'll stop by the shop soon as a visitor!
