Please note that all orders must be placed in advance.
Curbside Pickup Hours:
- Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am-12:00pm & 5:00pm-7:00pm
- Saturdays from 12:00pm-3:00pm.
At this time, the Library is partially staffed and remains closed to the public. Please do not come to the Library until your Curbside Pickup scheduled time has been confirmed.
ORDER
- There are three ways to place a Curbside Pickup Order
- Catalog: CAPLD cardholders can order items through the online catalog (When searching, include Limit by My Library to choose books we have available at the Chatham Area Public Library)
- Call 217-483-2713. Phone orders can be placed Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, and Saturdays 12-3pm.
- Complete the online curbside pick-up order form on our website
- Families should place orders together. There is a limit of 10 items per person. Please limit curbside pickup orders to once every other week.
- Books, audiobooks, CDs, and DVDs/Blu-rays can be ordered.
- Requests for specific items can be made, but they may not be available during this time. Library staff are happy to select different items based on your preferences.
SCHEDULE
- A library staff member will call to schedule a pickup window. Every effort will be made to fulfill orders within 72 hours.
- Curbside Pickup is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am-12:00pm & 5:00pm-7:00pm and Saturdays from 12:00pm-3:00pm.
- All orders MUST be placed in advance. Please do not come to the Library until your Curbside Pickup scheduled time has been confirmed.
PICK UP
- At your confirmed scheduled day/time, park in your “Curbside Pickup” designated parking space indicated by orange cones. If necessary, form a line.
- Upon arrival, call the library at 217-483-2713. Patrons without cell phones should call the library before leaving home.
- Do NOT exit the vehicle at this time.
- If there is a line, please call when you enter the line. This will allow staff to have materials ready and waiting.
- Pick-up Procedure
- A staff member will place items on the table next to the parking spot and come back to the building without person-to-person contact.
- At this time, you may exit your vehicle to pick up your items.
- Staff will not engage in extended conversation or contact with patrons. Staff are not permitted to open a delivery bag or touch materials once they have been checked-out.
- Walkers and bikers can also use curbside pickup. Please contact the library for details.
RETURN
- Our Book Drop is Currently Open:
- Please only place library items into the Book Drop as we are not currently accepting donations.
- DVDs can be returned through the Book Drop. Please rubber band or wrap the DVDs in a bag, if possible, for increased protection of the items.
- Please do not place specialty items (WIFI Hot Spots, Libary of Things items, puzzles, etc) in the Book Drop. Please come to the Library during our Curbside Pickup hours and return them to the attendant outside on duty.
- Due dates will continue to be extended until the library building is open to the public again.
- Returned items will be quarantined for seven (7) days before being checked in. Library staff will contact patrons with any questions at that time.
